As Hollywood celebrated its 80th Academy Awards, the lineup of films that competed for this year’s statuettes were anything but uplifting tales of triumph of the human spirit. Most nominees were depressing tales of war, murder, evil, greed, lust, envy and a host of other vices that read more like a lineup of the seven deadly sins. Academy Awards host Jon Stewart quipped, "Does this town need a hug?" |
