Muslim artists gather for evening of poetry

PALO ALTO, Calif. – On May 24, the cold and dull night at Stanford University was contrasted by a moderate-sized enthusiastic group that was treated to a warm and heartfelt event titled "Mic Check: Checkin’ the Current State of Hip Hop."

The crowd was a mixed group, but mainly made up of young college students eager to tune in on a night of music and the arts.

Imam awarded for unity efforts

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Tahir Anwar, Imam of the South Bay Islamic Association in San Jose, California received Santa Clara County’s Unity in Diversity Award on May 6.

As a young, American-raised religious leader, Imam Tahir is passionate about incorporating the universal ideals of the Islamic faith, which are compatible with American culture and values, to make this country a better place to live for ourselves and future generations.
