More than 90 students graduate from school’s Sunday program
REDLANDS, Calif. – The Redlands Peace Academy held its second annual graduation ceremony June 8 in the Orton Center on the campus of the University of Redlands. Approximately 300 attendees were present while 96 students received graduating diplomas and medals.

Large guest makes appearance at Al-Madinah School fundraiser
LOS ANGELES – Celebrating the end of the school year, Al-Madinah School held its second annual fundraising event on June 7. This year’s event was held to raise funds to replace the old playground equipment which was removed due to safety concerns.

LA VERNE, Calif. — Adorned with bright green robes and yellow tassels, students from the Islamic Center of Claremont Community School celebrated a memorable graduation ceremony with family and friends at the La Verne Community Center on June 22. The highlight of the evening was a vivacious performance by world-renown artists Native Deen.

Embracing new Muslims

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – Iverson Watler (also known as Ibrahim) embraced Islam more than six years ago after learning about the religion from his Muslim neighbor. Taking the Shahadah (declaration of faith) was one of the most elating experiences of his lifetime. With his neighbor there to assist him, he began studying Islam in more detail and interacting with Muslims and attending mosques in the Inland Empire. However, his neighbor soon passed away and he found it difficult to integrate into the Muslim community.

L.A. residents protest city’s pact with Israel
LOS ANGELES – A group of southland citizens showed up at Los Angeles City Council Chambers on June 25 to protest the trip Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa made in mid-June to Israel. Also in tow were city council members Dennis Zine, Jack Weiss and Wendy Greuel.as part of an 18-member delegation.
