The recent controversy over revocation of an award given to a young and popular Sacramento area official of CAIR is quite revealing. Senator Barbara Boxer gave an award to Basim Elkarra in recognition of his activism. The usual anti-Muslim right wing bigots on the Internet reacted by recycling false accusations that CAIR supports terrorism and blasted Boxer for associating with CAIR. Consequently, Boxer hastily rescinded the award without contacting CAIR or seeking clarification about those accusations.
