WHAT’S COOKIN’ Restaurant Review: Welcome to Afghanistan - in Poway

Poway’s dust-colored hills are not the only things reminiscent of Afghanistan ---- the sleepy city of less than 50,000 boasts the area’s only Afghan restaurant. Diba and M. Noor Amiri of Temecula, originally from Kabul, Afghanistan, are the owners of Pamir Kabob House. The name shouldn’t fool any passer-by into thinking skewered meat is the only thing offered ---- in addition to the wide selection of flame-grilled shish kabob, the eatery features stews, soups, vegetarian entrees, curries, seafood and dumplings. Pamir also offers a full catering menu.
