September 9, 1990: I was only 18 years old. I remember looking back at the bus that was taking me to Parris Island, North Carolina for Marine Corp Boot Camp. I looked at my Marine Recruiter and said to him, "If I had known there was going to be a war I would have never signed up." He laughed and politely replied, "Don’t worry; you’re going to do just fine."
