As the summer progresses, we enjoy more time outdoors during the day and evening. Along with time spent outside comes the possibility of insect bites, which can range from itchy nuisances to vectors of serious diseases. There are important steps we can take to protect ourselves, including avoiding standing pools of water; wearing protective clothing with a head covering, long sleeves and pants; and spending minimal time in wooded areas at dawn and dusk. |
