Author tells story of country ripped apart by tradition, modernity, religion

 "Snow" is a fictional account of one man’s return to Kars, a small village in Turkey. Kerim, or Ka, as he prefers to be called, is a poet who spends over a decade in exile, alone and without inspiration to write.

He goes back to Turkey under the guise of journalism to report on the upcoming elections and the suicides among Muslim girls forced to remove their headscarves.
