Many Muslims in the past have contributed to the field of Mathematics. Muhammad Bin Musa Al-Khwarizmi (770 - 840 C.E.) is considered to be the father of Algebra. Yaqub Ibn Ishaq Al-Kindi (800 - 873 C.E.) played a large part in introducing Indian numerals to the Islamic and Christian world. Abu Abdullah Al-Battani (858 - 929 C.E.) derived several trigonometric relationships. Abul Wafa Muhammad Al-Buzjani (940 – 997 C.E) made contributions to trigonometry and geometry, including relations between sine and cosine and the introduction of the secant and cosecant functions. Abu Ali Hasan Ibn Al-Haitham (965 - 1040 C.E.) developed analytical geometry. Abu Raihan Muhammad Al-Biruni (973 - 1048 C.E.) wrote works on several topics including arithmetic, geometry, series, and ratio theory. Omar Al-Khayyam (1044 - 1123 C.E.) found a generalized method for solving all cubic equations. Nasir Al-Din Al-Tusi (1201 - 1274 C.E.) compiled trigonometry as a new subject and developed spherical trigonometry.
