By GHALIA MOHDER, Staff Writer

From taking classes and making purchases to keeping in touch with friends and family, the advent of the World Wide Web has truly revolutionized every aspect of our lives. Libraries and newsstands are becoming obsolete as more and more people turn to the Internet for up-to-date information. A recent survey by Pew Research center found that individuals who rely on the Internet to stay current on affairs tend to be more critical of mainstream media organizations. We at InFocus decided to ask our Muslim audience what sources they rely on for their news and information.

"I read the Orange County Register and watch BBC news. I also read Yahoo news and Moneymarket." (Dieutrang Anbary, 39, Orange County)

"I watch CNN for political news and get my gossip news from OK and US Magazines. Another source I use for current affairs is Time Magazine." (Berlanti Izhak, 18, Huntington Beach)

"I get my news from AlJazeera and from NBC news channels." (Iman Alteir, Fountain Valley)

"I watch AlJazeera and CNN for news, but I don’t know how reliable they are." (Kholod Alabed, 40, Fountain Valley)

"I don’t really have time for TV, so I get my news from friends." (Abier Shukairy, 40)

"I get my news from the internet. The Web sites I mainly visit are Arabicmedia.com. I also read AlQuds newspaper online." (Ibrahim Ghanem, 37, Huntington Beach)

"I read the Los Angeles Times for up-to-date information. I also visit Yahoo news and Aljazeera.net." (Omar Abutaleb, 49)

" I watch Al Jazeera and CNN.com, and I find them very reliable." (Mohammad Tarabolsi, 61, Anaheim)

"Al Jazeera is my primary new source. I also watch CNN." (Nizar Saman, 47, Fountain Valley)

"I get my news from Comedy Central and my dad." (Sami Chamaa, 13)

"I use Yahoo news to stay current on international and national news. I sometimes watch Al Jazeera with my dad." (Nadia Kelifa, 15, Torrance)

"I rely on the Los Angeles Times for my news. I also get my news from NBC and ABC because their coverage is more accurate and professional and less biased than Fox." (Noor Bala, 15, Redondo Beach)
