Sam’s Club discontinued their advertising campaign on the show after being contacted by Hate Hurts America.
Hate Hurts America and other organizations like the Community and Interfaith Coalition and Brave New Films have coordinated a campaign aimed at Savage’s remarks against Muslims and other groups.
For example, Savage said on the air, "Bring them in by the millions. Bring in ten-million more from Africa. Bring them in with AIDS. Show how multicultural you are. They can’t reason, but bring them in with a machete in their head. Go ahead. Bring them in with machetes in their mind."
ITT Technical Institute, Union Bank of California, GEICO Insurance, Chattem, Inc. (Gold Bond, Icy Hot and Selsun Blue), and Intuit (TurboTax and QuickBooks) dropped their commercials after they were contacted by visitors to the web site http://nosavage.org.
Savage has been under attack since last fall for his comments, which were made available on the Internet by the Council on American-Islamic Relations. He has reportedly lost at least $1 million in revenue because of the advertiser boycott. Savage responded by filing a lawsuit against CAIR.
Other advertisers that have pulled spots from his show include Citrix, US Cellular, Sprint Nextel, Sears, Universal Orlando Resorts, AutoZone, JC Penney, OfficeMax, Wal-Mart, Trusted ID, and AT&T.
