The site will be a link to and a partnership with other channels and information about Islam. For example, Huda TV, a 24/7 commercial free Islamic programming channel and LinkTV, a 30-minute daily news segment relating to peace and war in the Middle East are among the organizations partnering to share information on MuslimChannels.
The site is made possible by the hundreds of volunteers who have given their all to the production of the site, Ayoub said.
People will be able to create profiles and share information with other individuals or groups. Users will also be able to share content by sending e-mails to as many as 10,000 recipients.
"This may open the door for Islamic centers to engage non-participating members of their communities, possibly sending video announcements, or event videos to their entire community database," Ayoub said in an e-mail.
In addition, Ayoub said, volunteers have contacted Muslim scholars and Imams to create their own Web sites or download their existing sites to provide as a link to MuslimChannels.
A Web page for IPCI, an organization dedicated to translating Islamic literature to African languages founded by Ahmed Deedat is among the sites available on MuslimChannels, Ayoub said.
Initially, Ayoub expected the site to have about 500 links to content in addition to live television broadcasts.
