The audience was awestruck by their courage and at the same time, reflected on the grim realization that they too could be cancer victims.
Maqbool Kadri, President of CARF, said that the main goal of event was to motivate people to help others in need and to get the audience to empathize with the victims.
"Cancer does not discriminate," he said.
He also said that helping even one person is something to be praised.
The highlight of the event was the fundraising session led by cancer survivor Hoori Sadler, Founder of the Persian American Cancer Institute.
She not only raised money for the session, but she recruited six youth from the audience to commit themselves to CARF.
Sadler also emphasized the need for the organization, saying that cancer victims need the support of the society — a society that understands their cultural background, language, and religion.
She also said that early detection is the key to beating cancer.
CARF was established in 2001 to raise awareness of cancer, screen patients, and conduct research.
