Individuals claim to hear subliminal messages in a doll Print E-mail
By Nuran Alteir, Contributing Writer

OWASSO, Texas – Although Muslims believe Islam is the light, none could say that they foresaw a child’s play toy uttering those same words.

Some in Owasso, Texas claim to have heard "Islam is the light," along with "Satan is king," from Fisher Price’s Baby Coo Doll.

One man from Owasso was angry that a toy would promote Islam and tried to get the doll off the market.

"I told them I didn’t want my money back, I wanted them to pull these dolls off the shelf," Gary Rofkahr said to the Owasso Reporter.

Fisher Price said that the doll was only programmed to say "Mama."

"The Little Mommy Cuddle ‘n Coo dolls feature realistic baby sounds including cooing, giggling, and baby babble with no real sentence structure," said a company spokesperson.

"The only scripted word the doll says is ‘mama’. There is a sound that may resemble something close to the word ‘night’, ‘right’, or ‘light’."

The spokesperson said that reason some may be hearing phrases is because of the distorted sound.

"Because the original soundtrack is compressed into a file that can be played through an inexpensive toy speaker, actual sounds may be imprecise or distorted," the Fisher Price spokesperson said.

The dolls, priced at $19.99, were made in China and shipped all over the United States.
