Protests mark fourth anniversary of war
LOS ANGELES -- Tens of thousands of protestors nationwide took to the streets to voice their opposition against the illegal occupation of Iraq during the week of March 17, marking the fourth anniversary of the invasion. A.N.S.W.E.R. (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) LA united various organizations for this rally, including Muslim organizations such as Muslim Students Association-West and Why Islam.
The Muslim students from MSAs from area universities formed their contingency at the tail of a massive crowd on Hollywood and Argyle, with MSA West Officers Amir Mertaban and Abdullah Zikria scouting the crowd for other Muslims.
Mertaban, MSA West President, addressed the entire crowd in a motivational speech. He declared that students were fed up with the illegal occupation, mounting debt and incredible bloodshed. He concluded by leading the group in a chant demanding, "No More War!"
