Empress Group, a Swedish video game holding company and the parents of Gearbox, Saber Interactive and THQ Nordic (among many studios) have agreed to buy several studios and IP options from Square Enix.
The deal includes three studios – Crystal Dynamics, Square Enix Montreal and Eidos-Montreal – More IP & Games List Tomb Rider, Deuce X., Thief, Cain Legacy And more than 50 “back-list” titles. The three studios in the acquisition have more than 1,100 employees and the total purchase price is $ 300 million.
The news was released by a press release from both companies. Embracer expects the contract to expire in the second quarter of the 22/23 (July-September 2022) fiscal year.
